CCAL has a Research and Development wing recognized by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The year of initial recognition was in Dec 1992, with the current recognition (F.No. TU/IV-RD/1607/2019) valid up to 31.03.2022.

Objectives of the Research & Development are to improve process efficiency through innovation and to reduce or eliminate waste through recycling.
